Show and Tell Friday

You remember a couple of weeks ago on Show and Tell that I asked you to help me decide whether to buy new or re-upholster my living room sofa and my husband's chair.

And you may know you said "Get New!"

So we bought a sofa two weeks ago and I showed it to you. Now we bought a recliner for my husband last Saturday at Lazy-Boy.
My husband finds it very comfortable and I like the design very much. I'm not sure whether I want the material this dark but I do want a green. I really wanted leather but friends of ours said leather gets hot after you've sat in it for a while and is cold in the winter. So no leather.

We won't be getting any of the furniture for 6-8 weeks. But of course I'll show you the room when it's all set up. I thank you all again for participating and helping me decide what to do. I can't wait!

I want to show you a couple of artifacts that I keep in my living room in which I'm putting the new furniture.

Below is a Chinese set (dish and egg) given to me years ago by my nephew. It sits on my fireplace mantel in the center. I love it!

This is a decorated Chinese roof tile. I bought it at the Museum Store many years ago. It depicts 3 Buddhas. It sits to the left of the fireplace on the hearth.

I think you might find the dark green looks nice with the sofa. Love the oriental items, my greatest desire for years has been to get a real Kabuki doll from the orient. My godmother did send me some things from japan when I was a teen, but could never find the doll.

New furniture is always fun.
I have a recliner that we had custom-upholstered to match our decor, and it was a great thing!

I have a leather sofa and chair that were perfect when I bought them in southern California. But I did notice when I got to Washington that they lost some of that comfort in the winter time unless I put blankets on them.

So i switched to a wonderful micro fiber suede and I love it!
