SKywatch Friday

Often the skies over my shopping center are awe-inspiring and this day was no exception. They seemed to rolling in from far to the North. I stood in the parking area and took shot after shot. It was late in the day, maybe 3:30 PM.

The last shot is one of the holiday decorations they've put up on the light poles.

Here are 3 photos I took late in the afternoon yesterday, an overcast day. Before I could get my camera out of my bag (have camera will travel) the clouds that crossed the moon had moved away (#1) Then they moved back in and obscured the moon (#2) And finally, in the last shot, (#3) that little dot near the top is a helicopter flying east to west.

I know the shots aren't very clear. My camera is a Canon A710 with 6x zoom but I can't stop shooting the moon when I see it!

For Skywatch today I've posted the trip to my nephew's house to celebrate his son's 3rd birthday. It was last weekend and overcast and threatening to rain the whole way over.

The first shot is from the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway just after the Kosciusko Bridge. I took shots all along the way until we were about 500 feet before the Atlantic Ave exit which is where we get off for his house.

This series of photos was taken as I was driving west on my way home several days ago. Don't worry I didn't take them while driving, I pulled over to take them. :)

There are only a few seconds between each shot. In the last shot I now see black specks which I suppose are birds. I didn't see those specks when I took the picture. I don't think it's dirt on my lens. Ha!

On this day the sky had an interesting look. Dark clouds were taking over the sky of blue. The cupola atop the Montefiore Medical Center, Bronx, N.Y. caught my eye and I took this shot from the ground.



On another day I took this shot of the cupola from across the way on the same level as the cupola against a most lovely BLUE sky. It's quite decorative.
