These turtles are basking in the sun and thus two wonderful shadows are formed. The water in Oakland Park lake has turned a deep green near the shore on the east side of the lake.I don't know the Parks Department seems to be working on it...
The turtles leave shadows as rotund as their shells. Perfect for a sunny warm day. Too bad about the algae, perhaps some light dredging or something. Happily the terrapins aren't complaining about the green...
That's definitely a form of algae and a bad case of it too! Those turtles are called red-eared sliders because of the red stripe down the sides of their heads and their ability to slide quickly into the water when they sense danger. I've had one for the last 22 years. He was the size of a quarter when I got him out of a little pond we were fishing in and now he's as big as a dinner plate :) Great shadow shot Mary!
I love to see happy turtles! They don't know their environment is in trouble yet and I hope it is corrected soon for these guys, if for no other reason.

The turtles make such neat shadows!
Are those turtles green, or is the green background reflected onto them? Maybe my eyes are seeing things.
I wonder if turtle shadows are faster than turtles... Great shadow shot!
Wonderful turtles and turtle-shadows. I do hope the algae problem gets resolved, however.
