Think Green Thursday

Think Green Thursday is Pagan Sphinx's new meme. Join her and others in participating at The Pagan's Eye.

I have photographs of some very GREEN Yew bushes around the outside of my house:

The oil derived from yew bushes, taxol, is used for the treatment of breast, ovarian, lung, bladder, prostate, melanoma, esophageal, as well as other types of solid tumor cancers. It has also been used in Kaposi's sarcoma.

Reason enough to grow and protect these plants in the wild.

I like the idea of this meme and will give it a try next week. I like what you have here, Mary.

I've never seen one of these bushes but it looks really cool close up!

Interesting background to the yew! And adore the rich green! I have never seen it before!

We had yew bushes flanking our front porch growing up. I always remembered those cool looking red berries they had.

Wonderful idea ... love your greens and the idea behind this but don't know how I'll do one more thing ... seriously! I just got around to publishing my 3rd Purple Passion Photo at Sacred Ruminations even though it's Week 4 already. Such is life ;--)

Lovely photos, Mary. Vibrant GREEN!
Please note, though, that yews are considered toxic plants, even though in some doses and treatments products derived from then can be beneficial.
As with many herbs/beneficial plants, your readers should consult an herbalist or physician before using any part of the yew.

very green, I have a few of those bushes too - I'm worried about one of them, it's looking ragged and not so green - need to take a sample over to the garden place - they can usually tell me what to do
