I would suggest he's reading Sleep No More, the English translation of one of the best books by one of the best Dutch writers ever, W.F. Hermans. It's a "classic of post-war European literature; a gripping tale of a man at the limits of physical and mental endurance beyond the end of the civilised world." I think you would love it, Maryt :)
He's reading his travel itinerary. As soon as he finds a place to recharge his phone, he's going to call his AAA agent and give her a piece of his mind.
...In the meantime, he'll try to "think warm" with his copy of Dante's Inferno.
