Ruby Tuesday

Today we celebrate Ruby Tuesday again. I went to Brooklyn to find some wonderful shots for today. We took Jarome to the park and passed this beautiful front door on the way.

Coney Island - May 2008

Spent the day down at the New York Aquarium at Coney Island. Thought you'd like to see some photos of the Ferris Wheel, the Cyclone, Nathan's, and some graffiti. Stay tuned for more...

Manic Monday - relish

The word for today is RELISH

THE RELISH RESTAURANT, Brooklyn N.Y.
225 Wythe Ave @ North 3rd
Williamsburg, Brooklyn NY 11211
telephone: 718 963 4546
fax: 718 963 3616
email: relish@relish.com

The stainless steel diner car that houses Relish Restaurant was fabricated by Mountain View Diners in Singac, New Jersey in 1952. It was then shipped to Queens, where it operated until 1967. A Ukranian restaurant family from Williamsburg purchased it, sent it back to Singac for alterations, then installed it into a new foundation at its current location in 1968.

The family operated “The Wythe Diner” until 1988. The diner then sat unused until it was purchased by the current owner, a local writer/designer who owned a small restaurant in Greenwich Village, who fell in love with the diner at first sight in 1995. It took three years of sincere courting and two years of restoration and renovation until the opening of Relish in February, 2000. Two years later the garden and patio were designed and built in the space that originally operated as a parking lot for the diner.
