These are bee hives or bee boxes in the Queens Botanical Garden in N.Y. They are fenced off but I walked right up to the fence where the bees were flying around. They didn't bother with me at all.
Mary, your bee boxes are great. They are prettier than any of the others I have seen. There are quite a few in a field near where I live and they look like styrofoam coolers turned up side down.

Those are great Mary. I wonder if those bright colors attract the bees more...
I'll be on a plane to Dallas next Thursday so will miss Yard art!
Beekeeping is an interesting occupation (or hobby) but I prefer my yard art to be a little less high-maintenance. ;-)

Very original, hope it makes more honey !
Bright, lemony green bee hives! Perhaps the colour is a warning to us to stay back? Very interesting!
i usually stay away from bee boxes. the color is eye-catching. good to know the bees didn't bother you.:p
Very attractive scene- tho I would not be brave enough to get so close to them!!
