The Clydesdale is a breed of draft horse derived from the farm horses of Clydesdale, Scotland, and named after that region. Thought to be over 300 years old, the breed was extensively used for pulling heavy loads in rural, industrial and urban settings, their common use extending into the 1960s when they were still a familiar sight pulling the carts of milk and vegetable vendors.
They have been exported in the Commonwealth and United States where they are famous for their use as the mascot of various beer brands, including Anheuser-Busch's Budweiser brand, Carlton & United Beverages and several others.
I thought maybe you'd like to see the Miller High Life Holiday commercial that uses a Clydesdale horse in its snowy winter scene. Every time I see this commercial during the holidays it brings tears to my eyes.
Robin, I hope this post qualifies for your Summer Stock Sunday meme.

Awesome!
Clydesdales are elegant, graceful creatures, aren't they.
Loved the video, loved the post.
They are a couple of dazzling animals for sure.
Mary I love your photos.
When I was very small, my Grandpa picked me up and sat me on a Clydesdale. If was so wide across the back that it was like sitting on a flat floor. My legs did not drape over the sides!
Clydesdales are such a gorgeous working breed.
Clydesdales are just breathtaking, aren't they?
What a great way to spend a summer day Mary, thanks for sharing it.
PS I've finally got my post up and organized so I'll post your link for you.

They're absolutely gorgeous.
They're magnificent aren't they? :)
I love your new banner.
Clydesdales are such magnificent animals. They even come ahead of thoroughbreds for me and we know how I feel about horse races. :-)
Such beautiful animals! I would have loved to watch them in person! Great effect - those beauties are picture perfect art objects!
The Clydesdales are beautiful animals! I remember after September 11th there was a Miller commercial I believe where the Clydesdales bowed down before Ground Zero. I've never seen one in person. Great post!!!
Lovely, they pull the trams in Douglas I.O.M.....
Clip Clop Clip Clop...lovely sound.
