Birthday Meme

Jamie of Duward Discussion introduced me to this meme which was introduced to her by Wayne Hicks at Electronic Village. Jamie challenged her readers, if they want to, to find all kinds of interesting stuff about ourselves and tell the world about it. Oh Jamie, this is right up my alley! Here goes!

First I went to the Birthday Calculator which Jamie recommended.

I was born on 25 May 1944

According to Wikipedia, May 25 is the 145th day of the year (146th in leap years) in the Gregorian calendar. There are 220 days remaining until the end of the year.

My date of conception was on or about 2 September 1943 which was a Thursday.

I was born on a Thursday
under the astrologic
al sign Gemini.
My Life path number is 3.

My fortune cookie reads:
Love asks me no questions, and gives me endless support. ~Shakespeare

The year 1944 was a leap year.

I was born in the Chinese year of the Monkey.

My Native American Zodiac sign is Elk; my plant is Mullein (see photo above).

Robert Ludlum, the writer, and Ralph Waldo Emerson, the Transcendentalist, share my birthday.

A top song of 1944 was Mairzy Doats by Merry Macs

Mairzy doats and dozy doats and liddle lamzy divey
A kiddley divey too, wouldn't you?
Mairzy doats and dozy doats and liddle lamzy divey
A kiddley divey too, wouldn't you?

However, the lyrics of the bridge provide a clue:

If the words sound queer and funny to your ear, a little bit jumbled and jivey,
Sing "Mares eat oats and does eat oats and little lambs eat ivy."

(This was a very silly song but I had an affinity for it because I was called "Mair" by my family.)

My lucky day is Wednesday.
My lucky number is 5.
My lucky dates are 5th, 14th, 23rd.
My opposition sign is Sagittarius.

Today is not one of my lucky days!

My birthstone is Emerald: though not meant to replace traditional medical treatment, Emerald is used for physical and emotional healing.

Your birth tree is the Ash

I am uncommonly attractive (hey I got this from the Birthday Calculator!), vivacious, impulsive, demanding, does not care for criticism, ambitious, intelligent, talented, likes to play with fate, can be egoistic, very reliable and trustworthy, faithful and prudent lover, sometimes brains rule over heart, but takes partnership very serious.

The moon's phase on the day you were
born was waxing crescent.

And On this Day in History:

The film Star Wars opened (1977)

The Constitutional Convention convened in Philadelphia (1787)

The Chinese government lifted its ban on Shakespeare (1977)

Nerd Pride Day, or Geek Pride Day, is an initiative which claims the right of every person to be a nerd or a geek. Of Spanish origin ("día del orgullo friki" in Spain), it is celebrated nowadays among Spanish frikis (an equivalent of geeks and nerds). This day is celebrated on May 25 since 2006, celebrating the premiere of the first Star Wars movie in 1977.

Baseball Hall of Famer Babe Ruth hit the 714th and final home run of his career.

Twelve days after my birth, Allied soldiers disembarked from a landing craft and stormed toward the Normandy shores during the D-Day invasion of France. June 6, 1944. My father went in to Normandy 6 days later.

If you want to take this challenge just go to Jamie's blog and follow her instructions.

You did a wonderful job. It sounds just like you, particularly the beautiful part.

The world was quite a busy place in May of our birth year. I beat you to the earth by two months just in time for The Battle of the Bulge. Been fighting that one ever since.

Very cool, Mary! I feel you have told us a LOT about yourself. Not enough to blackmail you though, so I'll just have to keep coming back to find out more. ;-)

Cool. I may do this, too. No wonder we're blog friends, we're both Monkeys! Now, is your hubs a Dragon?

I think May should be Nerd/Geek pride month. Hubby was born in May, and he's a proud Geek.
