Manic Monday

Today Mo has given us the word UNDER.

In New York City there is a section of Brooklyn called DUMBO. It means "Down UNDER the Manhattan Bridge Overpass." Each year an arts festival is held in the area. Here are some pictures of last year's festival. This year the festival will be held in September.

This is painting was done by an elephant

You can see the Manhattan Bridge in this photo and the one below. The area used to be filled with big warehouses but now these structures are residential lofts. I would hate to tell you how much the rent is...

A lovely watercolor by a DUMBO artist.

Wonderful post, Mary! I love festivals. They're so festive!! I also love the phrase "under the overpass". I had many opportunities to use this phrase when giving directions to my previous office in Florida.

Now I bet that festival is something to see.
Hope it doesn't wake up the millionaires in the apartments.
Yeah, right!

I'd love to visit the festival - that watercolor is far too pretty! I want one... Sadly we won't be visiting NY this year, but next year we'll return for sure =)

Happy MM!

All of the "gentrification" going on in New York is creating some beautiful and expensive neighborhoods.

Given my fondness for elephants, I love that painting.

Great post as always.

Wow, what a neat take on the theme and a neat art festival...our best one here each year was rained out this weekend as the city flooded in various areas...don't worry we are dry.

This is a great post, Teach!! That would be a cool place to visit in person, but your photos helped me take a virtual visit. I think it's awesome that an elephant painted that one picture.
