For the Children

I thought it might be appropriate to post this poem by Gary Snyder since you've all reacted so well to my Wordless Wednesday posts:

For the Children

The rising hills, the slopes,
of statistics
lie before us.
the steep climb
of everything, going up,
up, as we all
go down.
In the next century
or the one beyond that,
they say,
are valleys, pastures,
we can meet there in peace
if we make it.
To climb these coming crests
one word to you, to
you and your children:
stay together
learn the flowers
go light

Beautifully said - and your pictures of the children are touching. It is the eyes - sad or smiling - that always get me.

It's hard to imagine a world without children. It's a cycle of life we all can't do without. Yet this cycle of life is sometimes been abused.

Have you heard or read the news about the sick Austrian man that rocked the world recently with incest and child abuse?
Here's one of the links News from SG Tv
Makes me feel sick all over :(
