Politics and Sports should not mix. There are other ways to help the Tibetans.

I think it's absolutely ridiculous that the Olympics will be in China. I always thought the Olympics were better than that. It saddens me that athletes now have to make a choice - do what they love and sacrafise freedoms, or miss an extraordinary expirience in order to take a stand for what's right. The best athlete's in the world deserve better. Much better.

I agree with what Frigga said - I think there will be lots of protests, and I think that it's a shame that young Olympians may have to decide whether or not to attend.
Great shot...London, Paris, now SF. The torch run has not exactly been a PR triumph for China!

In answer to your question on my Wordless Wednesday photograph - I ``saw'' the picture in my mind and knew exactly how I wanted to frame it as I walked down the river bank.
I shot it with a Pentax K100D and at the time I had my 300mm lens on the camera. The focal length of that shot would have been only about 150mm-200mm, from memory.
I only shot one frame. And yes, I used the manual focus option as I always do. So the frame was deliberately composed with the branches in sharp focus and the river in soft focus.
In answer to the last part of your question, I never enhance, crop or PhotoShop my images. However, I have no philosophical problems with photographers (amateur or professional) who do.
Technology is there to be used in whatever manner the individual sees fit.
