Crane Topples in Manhattan, Killing at Least 4 People

March 16, 2008

An ACCIDENT is a specific, identifiable, unexpected, unusual and unintended external event which occurs in a particular time and place, without apparent cause but with marked effects. It implies a generally negative probabilistic outcome which may have been avoided or prevented had circumstances leading up to the accident been recognized, and acted upon, prior to its occurrence.

Tragic and frightening. I remember when the crane fell during the construction of the Brewer's stadium in Milwaukee it was terrible. Such an intense picture.
Heads or Tails and Weekly Word Challenge posted today, you get WW tomorrow....haven't decided what to post quite yet.

Some accident, eh Mary? I guess a new part of the definition is "something you wish didn't happen and for which you are responsible and on which you gambled at the expense of others."

Sad.

A tragic accident. I believe there are ways to avoid another one and I do hope they do it.

An accident. An accident in law is the opposite of injury (loss to person or property or economic) caused by negligent behavior of someone.
In other words, it--the accident--just happened, which is not the cause of most automobile injuries.

Happy WW/WT! That incident was in the news most every time yesterday. I haven't heard any more news of it today.
..
BTW, I wear flip-flops around a lot, in the house, driving, to the grocery store, and on and on. Even when I vist friends.

The cranes get higher and higher because the buildings get higher and higher...It is a scary sight to see them in the middle of a large city and then to have one collapse is a tragedy
