Thursday Thirteen

With St. Patrick's Day coming up I thought I would offer you 13 Irish Blessings for Thursday Thirteen.

13 Irish Blessings

1. May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,

May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

2.Wishing you a rainbow
For sunlight after showers—
Miles and miles of Irish smiles
For golden happy hours—
Shamrocks at your doorway
For luck and laughter too,
And a host of friends that never ends
Each day your whole life through!

(A Wish for a Friend)

3. May God give you...
For every storm, a rainbow,
For every tear, a smile,
For every care, a promise,
And a blessing in each trial.
For every problem life sends,

A faithful friend to share,
For every sigh, a sweet song,

And an answer for each prayer.

4. May the blessing of light be on you—
light without and light within.
May the blessed sunlight shine on you
and warm your heart
till it glows like a great peat fire.

5. May love and laughter light your days,
and warm your heart and home.

May good and faithful friends be yours,
wherever you may roam.
May peace and plenty bless your world
with joy that long endures.

May all life's passing seasons
bring the best to you and yours!

6.May your day be touched
by a bit of Irish luck,
brightened by a song in your heart,
and warmed by the smiles
of the people you love.

7. May the good earth be soft under you
when you rest upon it,

and may it rest easy over you when,
at the last, you lay out under it,
And may it rest so lightly over you
that your soul may be out
from under it quickly,
and up, and off,
And be on its way to God.

8.
Bless those minding cattle,
And those minding sheep,

And those fishing the sea
While the rest of us sleep.

9.
If God sends you down a stony path,
may he give you strong shoes.

10. May the rains sweep gentle across your fields,
May the sun warm the land,
May every good seed you have planted bear fruit,
And late summer find you standing in fields of plenty.

11.
May the frost never afflict your spuds.
May the leaves of your cabbage always be free from worms.
May the crows never pick your haystack.
If you inherit a donkey, may

12. Wherever you go and whatever you do,
May the luck of the Irish be there with you.

13. May neighbours respect you,
Trouble neglect you,
The angels protect you,
And heaven accept you.

I enjoyed that Mary, and I'm glad you're back on the block!

I'll remember that one about the sturdy shoes for the rocky roads.

God bless! Slan leat!

My sister's name is Erin, and she used to have a pin that said "Erin go bragh" -- well, one year my grandparents got her a shirt that said 'Erin go bra-less'

"An Irishman is never drunk so long as he can find a blade of grass to hold onto to keep from falling off the face of the Earth."

Happy St. Patrick's Day to you, Teach, from a curly-haired Irish boy. :)

What a wonderful tribute to St. Pat's and I was awaiting what this week's entry would be....mine is far less intellectual this week, but I beg off that it has been a hectic week here.

I found a real four-leaf clover in Killarney, Ireland this spring. I think it presently is pressed between the pages of a forgotten book.

Shortly it will be on
