To the Editor:
Re “Lowering the Volume,” by Bob Herbert (column, Feb. 2):
As a registered Democrat, I am so excited by richness of choice we have on Tuesday. The two remaining candidates have strong credentials that can attract voters from a broad spectrum of political positions. Both are pulling at the hearts and souls of the Democratic base.
I think this is a transformative moment in our history. Our children and grandchildren will not view elections in the same way our parents and grandparents did. The hope and optimism are almost palpable; an energized electorate is ready to invest in its future.
We Democrats have, in the past, made fatal mistakes and lost the election that was ours to win. Let us, as Mr. Herbert wisely suggests, “unite enthusiastically for the general campaign,” when that time comes. Let nothing mar the sweetness of having chosen outstanding candidates, no matter which one wins on Tuesday.

A very idealistic outlook...I can so relate to it.
The NY Times editorial today followed up on her message.
