More on the Israel Lobby

On Aug. 28, 2006 John Mearsheimer and Stephen Walt, the authors of what's been called an anti-Semitic treatise on an Israel Lobby that has undue influence on the President and politicians in Washington DC, held a forum for the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR). The forum was held at the National Press Club in Washington "to expand on their allegations about the Israel Lobby." (Pronouncing Blame on the Israel Lobby, Dana Milbank, Washingtonpost.com)

I've written in this blog before about the Israel Lobby (see Aug. 2 and 5 for more information) and agreed with Alan Dershowitz that the idea of a Israel, or Jewish, lobby is ludicrous!

The two authors acted shamelessly at the forum where "they accepted a button proclaiming 'Fight the Israel Lobby' and won cheers from the Muslim group for their denunciation of Israel and its friends in the United States."

They pointed out Jews in the government by name whom they believed advocated policies that would be good for Israel but not necessarily for the US.
