Camera Critters

Misty this is a Fu Dog.

Chinese guardian lions, also called a Fu Lions, lions of Buddha, or sometimes stone lions (獅子, Pinyin: Shíshī) in Chinese art, is a common representation of the lion in pre-modern China, which is believed to have powerful mythic protective powers that has traditionally stood in front of Chinese Imperial palaces, temples, emperors' tombs, government offices, and the homes of government officials and the wealthy from the Han Dynasty (206 BC-220 AD), until the end of the empire in 1911.

There are Fu/Foo Dogs in real life also, but unfortunately I don't have a picture of one.

Camera Critters #16

Camera Critters

I'm not always able to do CAMERA CRITTERS because I don't always have critters to post about.

But today I have a critter. So I hope Misty doesn't mind.

We have many mourning doves where I live but they don't often stay still for me to capture. This dove was cooing and that's what made me look up to see her on the telephone wire. I never expected to capture this almost perfect shot with my Point and Shoot 7.1 mpxl Canon on zoom.

Camera Critters #13

This is Misty Dawn's wonderful and successful meme.

I don't know what kind of a feathered friend/camera critter this is... a duck, I think, maybe a goose.

Camera Critters

These are antlered deer who were relaxing at the Bronx Zoo when I photographed them. They were pretty far away and wouldn't get up or even turn around for me. So I zoomed in and took the picture. :)

Camera Critters #9

This is a bob cat that I caught through the fencing at the zoo.
May 2008

The Bobcat (Lynx rufus) is a North American mammal of the cat family, Felidae. With twelve recognized subspecies, it ranges from southern Canada to northern Mexico, including most of the continental United States. The Bobcat is an adaptable predator that inhabits wooded areas, as well as semi-desert, urban edge, and swampland environments. It persists in much of its original range and populations are healthy.

With a gray to brown coat, whiskered face, and black-tufted ears, the Bobcat resembles the other species of the mid-sized Lynx genus.

The bobcat is featured in American Indian folklore.

Camera Critters #8

These are bison from the Bronx Zoo. They were way far off from me so I zoomed in to get a closer shot. I couldn't get them to turn around and look at the camera... :D

Camera Critters #7

Camera Critters

This is my first Camera Critters post for Misty Dawn at Camera Critters. I visited the New York Aquarium at Coney Island, Brooklyn, NY and took this shot of a couple of fish that I can't identify now...
