Dear teach Mary,
Your lighthouse collection seems to grow and grow. Impressing in size, architecture and variation.

I live at the wild coast side of western Norway. The lighthouses are frequently seen. Even though they are all fully automated now, and no house guardian is needed, people still gather at the lighthouses for cultural events summer and winter.

I presume the same is being done in America.

Oh, yeah, I see the red shirt of the man! I like the idea of photographing lighthouses. So far, I've done Cape May. I've been to Sandy Hook, but never photographed the lighthouses in that area.

Nice that we no longer have to worry too much about lighthouses for national security. Of course, there are other things to worry about, but whatever.

I just love lighthouses - and have never seen one in red. Thank you!

The Stepping Stone light is my favorite. I like the ruby sea captain style of the light, a seafaring view that offers a pleasing look of a utilitarian building...

dear beloved teach..
oh what a beautiful set of pictures you have here.
this week we had to say good bye to our precious aunt, aunt marion and when i came here and saw these lighthouses, it reminded me of the song, "if it wasn't for the lighthouse, where would this soul be?"
my aunt marion knew this lighthouse[jesus] personally and we know that she is in heaven with the lord but it has been a few bad days here of missing her.
she is mom goldens sister and i have featured her several times on ruby tuesdays.
i hope that you don't mind that i used one of your original ruby tuesday symbols..it just seemed to go so well with my aunt marion.
love terry

ps..if it wasn't for your ruby tuesday creation mary t, where would some of your blogger friends be?
thank you.

Well, if I had to choose, I'd choose the first one, because the sky is such a softly lit color. But don't snail mail since I have my favorite one, the perfect one, already. Thanks so much, Mary. You rock.

I posted a basket of tomatoes and broccoli rabe today for this meme.

Light houses are one of my favorite things. Perhaps I will get to see a real one soon. We are departing on Friday for a month long trip that will take us to California and back again, with many stops to visit friends and family along the way.

I will not be posting much (if at all) during this time so I look forward to sharing all the new red photographs I take with you when I get back.

I love the Stepping Stone light house, it is so serene looking and surrounded by all that water! Amanzing!

Joining this meme for the first time. Via Jama. The pair of ruby shoes struck out in her site.

Yes, I see the red in red shirt.

Lovely old postcards! My favorite Long Island lighthouse is "Bug Light" in Orient Harbor, in Peconic Bay. It's real name is "Long Beach Bar Lighthouse" but it is nicknamed Bug Light because of it's steel framework -- looks like it stands on bugs' legs!

It was abandoned and derelict for many years. My brother once climbed up over all the rocks rom our boat to rescue the very top of the lighthouse, which had fallen and would have been taken by vandals -- we kept it at our beach house until the lighthouse was being restored, and then gave it to the museum -- so it's safe!

You really got me hooked on lighthouses, Mary!

Strange, me being a New England boy, that I barely noticed them before I started visiting you!

Jim said...

Hi Mary, you are good with those lighthouses. I like the Stepping Stones Light on Long island Sound the best.
Funny but I just didn't see all those lighthouses when visiting NYC. I've been quite a few times. Sorry. And I did go to the eye doctor this morning, he didn't give me an excuse either.
Happy RT! Do you ever get tired of it? It must take a lot out of you just keeping the readers and writers happy.

My favorite lighthouse with red in it, is the original The Eddystone Light, but this may be because it has a great song attached to it.
