And here's a special treat ~ e.e. cummings classic poem about Spring that I learned in high school:

in just-

    in Just-
spring when the world is mud-
    luscious the little
    lame balloonman

    whistles far and wee

    and eddieandbill come
    running from marbles and
    piracies and it's
    spring

    when the world is puddle-wonderful

    the queer
    old balloonman whistles
    far and wee
    and bettyandisbel come dancing

    from hop-scotch and jump-rope and

    it's
    spring
    and
    the

    goat-footed

    balloonMan whistles
    far
    and
    wee

    e.e. cummings

Super! My favorite is the one by Langston Hughes. It is somewhat unexpected and fresh.

Now I'm thinking I should have done a Thursday 13 for one of my blogs this week. I didn't. Hhmm.

I will miss all of my tulips this year. We relocated and there are too many rabbits around here for me to plant bulbs!

Mary,
That ee cummings finale made my day. How I love that poem! I hear Pan now....

Atwood's line about smelling like dirt is perfect, too. We should. Nothing like it. I can't wait until we don't need a jackhammer to break into earth. All these WW photos of spring flowers make me wonder what planet I'm on!

Delightful 13 quotes this Thursday! And good illustrations. Spring is the most delightful time of the year and I am ready for it to start. It's been a long time since I have read any e e cummings.

Exactly, Ms. Margaret Atwood, exactly!!

Mary, you're right. Americans are very polite, especially New Yorkers I've heard! ;)

I'd never read the e.e.cummings poem. Thanks for sharing that.

Great quotes to describe a lovely time of year.

Spring...that season that tricks plants into thinking that they can safely bloom...a good few weeks earlier than they really can.

Ahh... a bit of wishful thinking, perhaps?

The timing on this is perfect. We are expecting a snow/ice storm tomorrow. Eep!

My thought on spring is: "when oh when will you arrive???" I complain so. It's actually supposed to be nice next week - nice enough to check the bees. SO....

Excellent Thursday Thirteen! e.e. cummings is one of my favorite poets.

From the quotes, "April prepares her green traffic light and the world thinks Go" really caught my eye.

Ahh. I had to come back and re-read these for fortification. Our storm arrived as expected and given that it's ice, I'd really prefer spring.

Maybe if I keep reading them, I'll conjure the season...

I really liked #'s 5 & 7. I am really ready for spring, and seeing the fruit of my fall labors burst into bloom. I planted a row of daffodils in a new bed, and they have already begun to show their green heads. Now for the lovely yellow faces. Ah, they are surely the harbinger of spring!
