Literary Tattoos

Watch a Trailer for the Book About Literary Tattoos

The Word Made Flesh: Literary Tattoos From Bookworms Worldwide

What Literary Tattoo would you have imprinted on your body?

Tell us where you'd have the tattoo put (keep it clean!) and what you'd have written...

My literary tattoo would be:

First they came for the Communists
but I wasn't a Communist so I didn't speak out.
Then they came for the Socialists and Trade Unionists
But I wasn't a socialist nor a trade unionist so I didn't speak out.
Then they came for the Jews
But I wasn't a Jew so I didn't speak out.
And then they came for me but by then there was no one left to speak out for me. ~Pastor Martin Neimoeller

I went to their website and the first image up was one of my favorite quotes and one that means a great deal to me, but I would have a great deal of trouble narrowing down favorite quotes to wear forever. In the meantime, I'm really thinking about:

“Grown-ups never understand anything by themselves, and it is tiresome for children to be always and forever explaining things to them.”
