We try to carry a peace in our hearts - the anthesis of much of the world today. Our hearts can be pure, a peaceful world can exist, and it could obliterate the true hatred - if all believe in it. We can hope and pray for peace, and we continue to do so...

Good post, good quote, very touching. And what memories that music brings back, I was in High School the first time around.
More recently my dfil was a navy chaplain and he spent his last couple of years in a VA nursing home. It always stuck me as both kind of odd/ironic and kind of beautiful that they always sang "Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me" in the chapel for Sunday service there.
