Kitty under the hood...

WARNING:
Do not read the rest of this post if you are a cat lover:

This afternoon we passed a group of people and a couple of cops standing around a black car. At first we thought there had been an accident but when we stopped (to make a trip to the deli) I walked over to find out what was going on.

The car had this message attached to the side window, and the front window as well:

Photobucket

The cops were telling Kim (see the note) that they couldn't open the car let alone the hood because the owner of the car wasn't present. That would be breaking into the car. Kim and a couple I didn't know had knocked on doors to see if the car belonged to anyone on the block but no luck.

Apparently they had all come to the conclusion that the owner had parked the car there and walked the block to the Express Bus and taken it into the city.

When the cops left Kim began to cry because she didn't want to leave the kitty there under the hood alone and in possible danger. Everyone could hear the kitten mewing. No one knew how the kitten had gotten in there.

I said to Kim, "You can't stand here all day waiting for the person to come back to her car." Kim looked at me and smiled. She said, "I'm going to get myself some coffee." Maybe I'll go home and take a shower and come back." Kim lives nearby just as I do.

Before I left I promised Kim I'd come back...

3:00 PM

I went down and checked the car. It was still sitting there. No mewing sound. No Kim. It was pouring rain. I wondered if the person who owned the car had gone into the city to see a matinee. That'd mean she'd be coming back around 5:30 or 6...

That's all I got for now...

4:27 PM

Kim just called and I told her at 3 everything was still the same. She said she'd call me if the car owner calls her...

UPDATE (10:44 am Sunday)

Here's how I think the story turns out:

Ellie returned from the city and read the note on the car. She popped the hood and a sweet little black & white kitty was asleep on the radiator. She picked it up, got a beach towel from the trunk and spread it out on the front seat. On the way home Sasha (she had already given it a name) began mewing. She was probably hungry or missed her mother, Ellie thought.

When she got home, she introduced Sasha to Missy, her 2-year old Calico. She fed them both and made sure Sasha drank plenty of water. She kept Sasha in her room for the night but would make a new bed for her as soon as she was sure Missy would accept Sasha.

Ellie thought "Wouldn't this have been ironic if "Cats" were still playing on Broadway and I had just gone to see it this afternoon..." :)

OH ... I hope this story has a happy ending. My kitty was missing for 3 days last week and I was worried about her, but she came back last night. Methinks the 'kids partying next door' were just too noisy for her taste and now that they're gone ... she can relax again.
Hugs and blessings,

Well I would think that with a note like that the owner would no better. I hope it also has a happy ending. Great post :) Show's there are still caring people out there in the world :)

I sure hope this story has a happy ending. Maybe the kitty found his/her way out. Cats are quite clever...

Please let us know what happens. Kittens usually manage to get themselves out of tight places. I hope that happens this time.

Our kittens always climbed up to set by the engine.....sometimes it wasn't a nice ending - but we certainly hope yours is!

...well?!?! You can't just leave us hanging like this. What happened to the kitty??? Maybe it figured out how to get loose and went home to it's loving family. *fingers crossed*

Wondering about the kitty. Is the end just your made up happily ever after version?

When you say, "Here's how I think the story turns out:", does that mean you heard nothing or you are embellishing on a call?
