Ruby Tuesday

Well, for the time being we'll keep the Ruby RED slippers as our badge/logo, I think.

Welcome to another Ruby Tuesday!

Photobucket
Photobucket
Grazia and her two sisters, Cleta and Sylvana.

Grazia, who needlepointed the work you see above, is my sister-in-law. You might understand that when she saw this piece she bought it immediately and started working on it right away. It took her years to finish it. She didn't work on it all the time. She'd put it away sometimes and not go back to it for months. But finally it was finished and she had it framed, very beautifully as you can see. She has it hanging in the bathroom.

Dear teach Mary,
Your sister- in- law certainly has a way with the needle.
I don't think I'll ever would hang such a delicate work of art in my bathroom.
Then I haven't done needlepoint embroidery since I was 13.
I'm still ashamed when I see it, but nevertheless it's hanging in my old maiden cage at my mothers.
Too much work to be thrown away.

The happy, bathing girls is a masterpiece.
Thank you for showing, and bring more inspiration.
From Felisol

See... now if I'd spent years working on something like that there's no way it'd wind up in the bathroom. It'd be out there in everybody's face so they could all see and admire and pay homage to the wonder that was me.

Could be why I don't do projects like this that require "years".

Pretty cool though... kind of a kid's version of the Rockettes or something.

That's pretty! She's very talented and patient!

Me, I don't have patience enough to finish a project...LOL!

It looks very intricate! I hope the umidity in the bathroom won't damage it.

Such needlepoint is impressive, stylish and made with a devotion I wish we had. A true work of art, and is perfect on whichever wall it may grace!

What lovely hand-work! I wish I had your sister's talent!!! I've not played for a while, but have shared at Small Reflections today and hope to visit others as time permits.
Hugs and blessings,

I was at one point in my life addicted to crossstitching too! :) Beautiful work there!

Your sister in law is talented, no doubt, for needle work. And patient, and stubborn.
But she's also too modest, to hide it in the bathroom. Thanks to you, Mary, it is shown all over the Ruby world. Great !

Needlepoint has always completely eluded me. I greatly admire those who can focus on this craft.

Cute needlepoint...I'm very impressed...these things take soo long to do! I like the little bather in the red suit!

Mary, Grazia did a wonderful job, and I love the frame and mats she choose for it. I've done needlepoint and know it takes a long time. She must be very proud. I also love your photo of the needlepoint. Wonderful.

Martha said...

Lovely needlepoint. I used to find time for projects like that, but not for a very long time.

I also loved to needlework, cross-stitch especially. I have only a few completed pieces as I'd see something else and start something new before finishing what I was working on! At least photography is instantaneous! I'm in!

That is so lovely. It reminds me of all the needle work my mother does. She can create anything with a needle, a sewing machine and fabric or thread or yarn.

I guess it must have skipped a generation.

That is very cool how the photo shows the needlepoint texture. Well done!!

My mom had several needlepoint projects like that, one's that took years and years to finish. I remember one of them was a rendering of The Blue Boy.

A very sweet piece of needlework that your sister in-law has done. Never mind that it took years to complete, it was worth it.

But I'm surprised it's placed in the bathroom! It should be placed it a more prominent and respectful place. Living, dining, playroom?

Yay for RT!

I feel a bit odd posting it on Monday but, oh well.

I LOVE your (new?) photo at the top of the page Mary, very nice!

Needlepoint is one of those things I always look at with a mixture of envy and ... well.. envy,

Happy RT!

That's amazing - I have no such talents. I used to sew (poorly,) but it never came close to being "art," which this piece most certainly does!

Nice needle work. ;)

I know how much work that is -- I used to do needlework too. That's such a nice piece, it seems a shame to hide it away in the bathroom!

Wow, beautiful needlepoint. I crochet and embroider but have never done needlepoint even though it is a very lovely needle art. Sometimes my projects take a few years to complete. Thanks for sharing this lovely piece and for having Ruby Tuesday.

Awesome shot Mary. A good Ruby Tuesday to you!

What a cute photo. I can see by the detail how it could have taken years to complete. Your sister in law is both talented and patient.

Hi Mary,
That's a lovely piece of needlework. I would never have the patience to complete a project like that.

Very nice, no matter where it is displayed!

Julie said...

Wow...lovely details. I did a cross stitch years and years ago but it had the drawing on the canvass so I didn't have to count the stitches.

I've only done needlepoint Christmas ornaments (and only a few!) - I like handicrafts, but that would be too big of a project for me!
Mine is (you guessed it) another London picture!
Cheers,

I love that scene with the three girls - growing up as one of three (two sisters and a cousin) it really speaks to me.

Getting a piece like this actually finished is awesome. I have a Christmas stocking I've been working on for years, I mean like over 20 now. Obviously I don't work on it much.
