Proud Bookworm award

Linda over at Are We There Yet presented Jamie of Duward Discussion with this sexy bookworm award, and Jamie sent it along to me.

Oh yes, I'm a sexy reader alright! Thanks, Jamie, for thinking me sexy!

This award came along with a set of rules that I am apparently supposed to adhere to but they look pretty easy so I think I can handle them -

Rules: Pass it on to five other bloggers, and tell them to open the nearest book to page 46. Write out the fifth sentence on that page, and also the next two to five sentences. The closest book, not the coolest, or the one you think will sound the best. THE CLOSEST.

Okay, the CLOSEST book is right next to me on my desk and it's called THE WIFE by Meg Wolitzer:

I'd stood with other Americans, all of us huddled together, heads back and mouths dropped open as we peered up at painted ceilings. I thought now about how I'd never been entirely naked in front of a man, had never been in love, had never gone to a political meeting in someone's basement, had never really done anything that could be considered independent or particularly insightful or daring. At Smith, girls surrounded me, the equivalent of those American tourists. Girls in groups were safe as shepherd's pie.
Now I have to send the award along to 5 bloggers:

Now I know Mo of It's a Blog Eat Blog World is a sexy reader

And Julie @ Julie's Jewels and Junque

Lois @ Lowdown from Lois

And Desert Songbird @ The Ice Box

And Jim @ Jim’s Little Blog

Interesting. You would really find the July 10, 2007 entry on Jenny Diski's blog very interesting. It concerns a poem created by opening random books to page 60 and looking for any lines related to windows.

It is peace in Mumbai at last.
Thank you for all your prayers and good wishes.
Pray for all those who lost their lives and may God give strength to their near and dear ones to bear their irreparable loss.

Thank you Mary, for the nice award. I don't get a whole lot, I think I turned people off when I was 'tagged' to write my meme.
I put on a big show of not liking it but really I loved getting it done.
I will post it pretty soon, in a day or two. I did just look to see the closest book, there are two. I'll see which I like best or do both.
Thank you Mary, I had seen this on other blogs and found it interesting.
While I am thanking you, thank you for picking up the Ruby Tuesday. That is a big job for you. I haven't missed on since you took over but tonight's didn't get up until after 8:00. ;-)

I'm not ignoring you, Mary. I just haven't gotten around to this yet. I'm being a lazy butt lately.
