Manic Monday

~PLEASE SCROLL DOWN FOR MY CREATIVE PHOTOGRAPHY SUBMISSION~

Our word for Manic Monday is PRIDE. Thanks Mo, it's a great word. I had a lot of ways to go so I posted the ones that occurred to me first.

I have great PRIDE in my flag. I took this shot for Photo Hunters around Memorial Day this year. While I have PRIDE in my flag and my heart is with the soldiers who fight over in Iraq, I am AGAINST the war in Iraq and have ALWAYS been.

The GAY PRIDE flag flies at Market and Castro Streets in front of the large pink triangle, shrouded in fog, on Twin Peaks in San Francisco on Saturday, June 28, 2008. (AP Photo/The San Francisco Chronicle, Paul Chinn). The recent decision in California to allow gay marriages is a move by this country toward greater civilization and respect for diversity.

Keira Knightley (in an Oscar-nominated performance) and Matthew Macfadyen.

Of course how could a post on PRIDE be complete without a mention of the novel by Jane Austen, PRIDE AND PREJUDICE.

Pride and Prejudice, first published on 28 January 1813, is the most famous of Jane Austen's novels and one of the first "romantic comedies" in the history of the novel. The book is Jane Austen's second published novel. Its manuscript was initially written between 1796 and 1797 in Steventon, Hampshire, where Austen lived in the rectory. Called First Impressions, it was never published under that title, and following revisions it was retitled Pride and Prejudice.

I finish up by presenting a video by U2

That was an excellent post. Naturally I am a Jane Austin maven. Have you seen The Jane Austin Book Club as yet?

Of course any reason to listen to U2 is always accepted.

I love, loved! love that Pride and Prejudice. I cannot fathom my infatuation to the book and all its adaptations. I just love it.

The most wonderful thing of all about the American flag is that you can say you don't support the war and don't have to hide from authorities in order to speak your own mind. Think about the voters in Zimbabwe. Scary.

We've had legal same sex marriage here in Nova Scotia since September 24, 2004. At my job in a pension agency, I've had the pleasure of scanning marriage certificates belonging to two women or two men. As I looked at them, I realized I was holding historic documents in my hands and felt quite awed by that.

That song was my introduction to U2 and remains my favorite of theirs.

These are all terrific Pride thoughts.
