Arte y Pico

This lovely statute is called the "Arte y Pico" award which was created to be given to bloggers who inspire others with their creative energy and talents no matter whether it be in the form of writing, artwork, design, interesting material, or contributions to the blogger community. When a blogger receives this award it is considered a "special honor" and, once presented to you, it is to be passed on to at least 5 other bloggers who meet the criteria.

This marvelous award was given to me by Jamie of Duward Discussion who authors one of the most engaging and eclectic blogs in the blogosphere. When I visit Jamie there is always a post about something or someone in history or in our culture that I find exciting. Whether it's about Rembrandt, the 50-state quarter program or the price of gas, she makes you stop and read and learn. She often makes you laugh.

Jamie was given the award by Linda of Are We There Yet. It was passed along to Linda by Mo of It's A Blog Eat Blog World and she passed it along to Travis of Trav's Thoughts.

Jamie was kind enough to say about me: Mary of Work of the Poet and Answers To The Questions is my favorite quirky place to visit. You simply don't know what you will find. It could be a book review, a link to somewhere truly different on the web, or a chance to vote on a really bad piece of art. Then there are the photographs, everything from a Ferris wheel to a flower. Mary scoops up awards with both arms and they deservedly just keep coming. Please pay her a visit.

I want to thank Jamie for her thoughtfulness in giving me this award. I am pleased and delighted. Thank you, Jamie!

Now I want to tag 6 excellent bloggers:

Sandy Carlson of Writing in Faith
Sandy writes many blogs but the one I want to give this award to is "Writing in Faith." Every day Sandy offers thoughts, ideas, poetry and essays that stretch the imagination. She often describes lovely places she's visited and posts exquisite photos to illustrate. She's a poet and a lover of graffiti. As she says on the header of her blog her purpose is "to love the sacred and name it over and over again."

Barb of WillThink4Wine
Barb's blog is a wonderful blog. She posts photos about the animals that grace her backyard, the beautiful trees and the gorgeous skies around where she lives. She seems to have fun posting about her family, particularly her sisters and her mother who appear to be a lot of fun! She's got two cats, Gandalf and Grayson who have a blog of their own. Barb makes her readers feel they have come to know her.

Elaine of Napaboaniya APAD
Elaine Ling is a photographer par excellence. She posts a photo a day without words of explanation. She lets the photo speak for itself. Her photos are often filled with color but will be black & white when the subject calls for it. She will post all sorts people, places, and things. Her photos are a pleasure to look at.

David of authorblog
David's blog is essentially a first-rate photoblog with lots of other goodies to enjoy. He's a professional photographer so visiting his blog is pure pleasure. He offers Verse and Worse and other humorous posts that rely on clever word puns. He also posts suggestions for taking good photos - advice that we who aspire to become good photographers appreciate very much. It is quite possible David has already been given this award but I am re-awarding it to him.

Carletta of Round the Bend
When you visit Carletta's blog you are in for a treat. She will take you to visit historic places: Civil War memorials, Indian mounds, towns with lovely old houses, churches. She fills you in on the historic site so that when you're done you feel like you visited the place with her. And she plays music for you that matches the subject of the post you're reading. She does such a good job.

Abraham Lincoln of Brookville (Ohio) Daily Photo
Abraham's blog is a marvelous blog of up close and personal, excellent photographs of wildlife and flowers. He also writes Better Blog Writing and My Birds Blog. He's a fine, first-rate photographer and writer.

UPDATE: Just this afternoon Dianne of Forks Off the Moment awarded the Arte y Pico to me for maintaining a blog project or meme. In my case it's Ruby Tuesday which asks bloggers to post something red on their blogs on Tuesdays. Dianne is a sweetheart because she's not that crazy about red but she participates anyway.

Further UPDATE: Roger of Idaho Photo just awarded me the Arte y Pico. Thank you so much Roger!
