My photos for today were taken from the car (I was in the passenger seat) on our way home from Coney island, Brooklyn, NY. We were traveling on the Belt Parkway which runs along the south shore of Long Island.
I thought this cloud formation looked like a great dove in the sky.

To answer your question. RAW gives you the ability to change the exposure if you are not off by more than a couple of stops, without losing any detail in the white or black. If your auto white balance does not read the scene correctly as is often the case for fluorescent lighting, you can change this without doing a lot of difficult color correction.

I've been totally fascinated with clouds lately and have been taking so many pictures of the sky that I'm beginning to think I should start doing Skywatch Friday myself. I've basically given up the weekly memes because I just haven't had the time but I really think this is one I'd like to do.
I DO see that dove! Were these taken THIS week? We've had a LOT of the WHITEST fluffy clouds this week in Southern Maryland... so I was just wondering.

We had this beautiful full moon the other night that was playing hide and seek behind some dark rain clouds . The way it lit up the clouds from the back was so utterly beautiful . Try as hard as I might I haven't a decent shot to show :(
