These are bison from the Bronx Zoo. They were way far off from me so I zoomed in to get a closer shot. I couldn't get them to turn around and look at the camera... :D
I can't believe they're New Yawk bison! ;-) Reminds me when I was in Yellowstone Park and I opened our cabin door and there stood a buffalo staring at me! Peace
Hi Mary! Oh this picture is wonderful! Makes me want to break out in song..."Oh Give Me A Home Where The Buffalo Roam". LOL! Just beautiful. Thanks for sharing this with us! Hugs, Kimmie

GREAT pic! This photo makes me think of my uncle in Tennessee - until recently he raised Buffalo on his farm.
Mary: One did turn around but his face is hidden, beautiful picture.
This is a very cool pic, and I believe they are making a comeback in the wild as well thanks to intense conservation efforts :)
Happy CC and have a great week ahead!

Bison are such magnificent creatures. Wonderful photo!
I'm back. I didn't want to miss something good.
Don't you hate it when the animals are camera shy.

Sure you wern't in Buffalo when you took this shot?
BTW your link for the Wordzzle brought me to this blog.
I'm headed over to the other one to see if it's there.
Well well snap. great captures.
Pop and see my CC.
I've never seen one in person, but I think they are an amazing animal.
we have a Bison farm not far from us and we use to take the kids and we would ride out to the fields in a wagon and see the little ones.
They wanted you to admire their trim, manly backs, Mary!
We have some Canada geese here with the same 'tude!
(Just stopping by; not doing the meme, though I enjoy what others offer.)
Awesome photo... I would love to visit a zoo and see some of these animals... maybe one day I will.

happy CC!
They look like they are in their natural habitat.
Impressive animals!
Oh, how I wish animals would listen when I'm photographing them. I'm having a terrible time with birds lately!
That's a great shot!
Massive! It looks as if two are losing their winter coats (they look scruffy like moose do in the spring!). They are magnificent beasts.
don't you hate it when animals won't cooperate with the camera
the Bronx Zoo is a great place!
and your photos are wonderful!!
I’ve heard Bison can be ‘snobbish’ that way ;--) I’ve shared at Small Reflections this week as usual.
Hugs and blessings,
Bison. Different. They cooperated with the composition. Great photo.
When I lived in soCal, we toured the WS Hart ranch just outside of Valencia. They have a buffalo herd. Those are amazing animals.
I used the word herd in my prior comment. The "herd" was only six animals.
It is wonderful that they are no longer endangered.
I can't believe they're New Yawk bison! ;-)
Reminds me when I was in Yellowstone Park and I opened our cabin door and there stood a buffalo staring at me!
Peace
Great photo Mary! Hey my neighbors buffalo just had a baby calf, I cant wait to get a shot of it cute looking thing. :D

Really beautiful photo and nice composition too. Brings back memories of living in the West.
The only bison I ever saw were on Catalina Island off the Californian coast - nine years ago - can't believe what has happened since then.
