Damn. That is a powerful picture.
I think it is very important for people to see images like these. I'm going to read about the photographer now...
This shot is a very moving one, it is simply so sad! I will go and have a read about it now...
Thanks for stopping by burntofferings and more at bernies fotoblog.

That get your haret strings tugging!
What a terrible image, so hard yet so necessary to see. I had read about the story, and know that the girl walked away once the photographer scared the vulture off.
And then we have what happened to the photographer afterwards...
Here is my post for today, and here is my "Where were you" game. Do you want to play?
Happy WW!
I have seen this picture before but I have to take my eyes off of it immediately because it simply breaks my heart... interesting link about the photographer, thanks!
good picture!
I've seen this photo before and everytime I see this,it really breaks my heart :( why can a man, exchange the life of a child for a photo? It's really sad.

Hapy WW!
I saw this picture a few years back. It is very sad. I hope the child is still alive.
It's so right to have this photo on, coz in some part now it starting or have started problem of food. So,how can we help?
Happy WW!
Sad commentary on the political disarray of a country when humanitarian aid is available, but the people are prevented from getting it. Also sad commentary on the journalist who gave up in an age where aid is so readily available.
Extremely powerful and very sad to see. I read about the photographer. I could not do that kind of work. I can barely look at this photo, it is so heartbreaking. Thank You Mary for yet another educational post. I too hope the child is still alive today.
Hugs,
Kimmie

It is a powerful photo. It certainly does depict the horror of the situation. Winning the Pulitzer prize did not do Carter much good if he killed hiself not long after.
OMG ! isn't that horrible ! and here we have too much food and are become fat and fatter !
Very moving. Sad but moving. Thank you for sharing!
Happy WW!
That picture just makes me wanna cry
Wow … that’s gut wrenching! Thanks for sharing it and the link to additional information today.
Hugs and blessings,
I'm showing this picture to my 2 kids!!
I sense sour grapes from Silva's words.
Kevin's way of departing makes my heart drop.

Now that is too sad for me. But one eye-opening composition.
Ouch... what a sad photo. No wonder it won a Pulitzer...
That is heart-breaking...
Devastating photo and a powerful reminder to those of us more fortunate about the kind of suffering that exists in this world.
Whoa. If that doesn't make you stop and think, you're not human.
