Believe It or Not

Via BBC News:

Menopause (the musical)

Menopause is caused by the age-old battle between wives and mothers-in-law, reports the Times.

As long as 50,000 to 300,000 years ago, competition for food meant that in ancient communities there was often only enough to feed one woman’s offspring – and the younger daughters-in-law won. With food hard to find, mothers-in-law tended to help rear the grandchildren rather than have more children themselves.

Well, I'm glad they explained that!
