tnchick has given us the phrase
I SPY for Saturday's Photo Hunt.
I spied this street sign near my shopping center. Do you spy anything unusual?theteach
Erin Go Bragh! A theme is given for each Saturday. Post a photo, on your site, that best represents the theme.

Well, I noticed that the street sign says that it's 14 ROAD one way and 14 AVENUE the other way. Is that what you meant?
That is too funny. I've never seen a road on one side and avenue on the other. Hope you have a pleasant weekend.
Oooops... I guess I was too busy spying out what´s happening behind the windows on the other side *g*
Happy Hunting!
Yep. Wonder how they managed that? lol Maybe one is supposed to be invisible, just like the station in Harry Potter?
I'm not familiar with road signs in the USA. But in Singapore, we have Road, Avenue, Lane, Street next to one another.... its confusing especially for taxi drivers. haha.....
We live on an "avenue" but the address of the next house to the west is "court", with an address that is not in sequence with ours. Lots of confused people ask for directions when I am working in the yard.
Road and avenue as Leslie says. When you approach my street perpendicularly in the middle it is one name one way and another name the other way. It's like the track on a big roman chariot arena.
I live in a large condo complex that is on NE Place, which is actually the way the street is listed on city maps. But that little road is actually a long driveway that winds through the complex.
Whatever it takes to confuse the commuter! :)
happy weekend to you Maryt!!
What? 14 Road and 14 Avenue? That is going to be confusing, for me at least, haha!
Have a great weekend, Mary :)
I only see that it's a road on one side and an avenue on the other and the house is sitting on what ??
Lol, both road and avenue on the same stretch of the road. Kinda confusing for drivers visiting the area :P
hmm, a road on one side and an avenue on the other... yet same street. very interesting!
happy weekend!
Looks like someone couldn't make up their mind about this street - is it a road or an avenue? :)
Fun choice for the theme this week!
Happy Weekend

We have quite a few of those roads here. I thought it was a "southern thang"!
Have a wunnerful weekend. Erin Go Braugh, Slainte', and Cheers!!
I am so glad I do not have to find this place. I am "directionally challenged" enough without this kind of confusion! *LOL*
We have those, too many, extensions added to our streets, too. You'd think there weren't enough words in the language to accommodate the number of streets.
I hope the repair truck is there to straighten the pole ;-)
Very funny sign!
WOW! Love your banner/header! Just gorgeous!
Well one household is going to get confused when they wants to give out their address! Happy weekend
The corner of 14th and 14th? Heh. That's pretty good. :)

So the sign is right at the crossroads when a road turns into an avenue?

The Road and Ave issue?
We actually have a small town near hear that has a river smack in the middle, on one side of the river everything is numbered streets, and the other side numbered avenues....makes it very confusing.
Nice photo for the hunt this week!
What's silly about this picture is that the street IS 14th Road. 14th Ave. is one block over. HA!
ok, which is which, i am lost.
now, in reference to your comment on Obama, am I a raciest, i grew up in the south in the 40's and 50's and it was a way of life. In 1960 I was drafted and for the first time made friends with a black person. I learned in the army that the teachings of my youth were wrong. I do not dislike Obama because he is black or half white as you say, but because the policy he speaks of will be a train wreck for this country, I am an American first, and a republican because I believe that they have a better outlook for the feature. I resent that you implied that I am a racist.
First off........LOVE the Irish graphic. Absolutely adorable. Then ----this is so typical. We have intersections like this all over our town. Even in the middle of a road, the name changes from one name to the other, I'm amazed at the letter carriers abilities and delivery people getting things straight. LOL
Happy weekend, and if I don't see you before Monday...Have a green beer and enjoy wearing o' the green!!!

Road and Avenue....This sort of thing happens in this part of Connecticut. Near my parents are a bunch of obtuses. One is in Brookfield and the other, in Newtown. They are near the same town line between the two. Then there's George's Hill and George's Lake--both roads. This lack of imagination has cost us more friends and relatives, who got confused in the woods and never came back!
Str/Av combination?
The strange angle of the pole?
I am lost...
And I shall definitely steal that Irish pic for tomorrow ;-)
Best and have a great week!
Hi Mary. Looks like a confusing sign. I don't think it's possible to have one half as a road and the other one asan avenue.
Great find!
funny probably a city council dispute
That is kinda weird! LOL Visit My Blog
