Photo Hunters - high

thchick has given us the word HIGH for today's PhotoHunt.

I can see the St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church from my house almost a quarter of a mile away. See the blue onion dome (in the center of the picture) as it rises HIGH above the rest of the neighborhood?

There is the dome as it sits HIGH on top of the church.

The beautiful dome can be seen from almost anywhere in the area.

Check out other Photo Hunters here.

Hi Teach!

That sure is an unusual design, but I love the blue top! It is amazing when a building of any sort can be seen from so many views...it defines the area that it was built in. We have a similiar Church a few miles away from us that can be seen in the same fashion. It is called the Our Lady of Victory Bascillica in Lackawanna, New York. The Angels sit high up on peaks and it is an amazing site to see. The inside in so beautiful words cannot describe it. I will try to get some pictures for you if you would like to see it. People come from all around the country to see it.

Thank You for sharing Teach.

Blessings,
Kimmie

What a truly unique building indeed. Excellent choice for the PH this week. Mine is up at The Cafe.

I'm actually surprise to see a church with a dome on top! Normally sees mosques with large dome on top only in Singapore.
When my son asked "what's that on top?" My daughter replied "onion". :P

Interesting building. It is a good thing that there are different cultures in our cities. There religious buildings break up some of the very bland architecture so prevalent today.

Have a nice weekend.

That looks really very special. I like the onion tower, in Bavaria can see most churches like that but not in blue.

What a beauty. I love the blue onion dome. It reminds me of the "Hundertwasserhaus", one of my favorite buildings in Vienna!

Happy Hunting!

wow, this is a beautiful church! Thanks for sharing.

But, if we see this type of dome in Malaysia, they are mostly mosque. :)

Architecture is such a wonderful thing! I wonder how often the blue needs repainted.

This is a strange building. Not what we see of photos from Russia but the dome is very distinctive. Good choice. Have a great week Mary.

That is a great choice for the high theme. I ended up enjoying a day without turning on my computer.

You can look far away from your house. Looks like a nice dome.

Thanks for visiting my blog and have a good week.

That's really different, a most unusual building to look at. That dome really stands out, and it's certainly high!

It's colored and high so it's easily noticeable. Is there a reason for painting it blue?
