Johannes No 2 works at a steel supplier in Bethlehem, South Africa. He is called "Johannes No 2" because the other Johannes working there is older than him and he is No 1. It is hard and grimy work. Johannes just finished cutting a lot of steel pipes with an angle grinder. The darkness of the workshop and the effort on his face seemed to make an interesting picture. I asked him if I could take a photo and he agreed. I thought that he would smile, but instead looked into the camera with somber eyes. (Notes for the photo by Irmgard Kaiser)
