Mean Mattress Company

According to Fox News, an American GI assigned to one of the harshest posts in Iraq asked a Wisconsin mattress company for some mats for sleeping on really hard and bug-infested ground.

What he got was an out-and-out refusal and a nasty recommendation that if he and his company had any sense they would pull out of Iraq.

Googling the incident I found a lot of entries for the story. The GI's name is Jason Hess and he's found a couple of other suppliers that will send him mats.

The name of the company that refused Hess is Discounts-mats.com. They have a message up on their site apologizing for the disrespectful way the GI was treated. They also say the person who wrote the GI has been fired. It looks like their business has really been negatively affected.

A Military.com forum discusses this topic extensively.

I checked with Snopes.com (urban myths site) and the story is true.

You can watch a video report at My Fox Milwaukee.
